What is God Like - Part 1

What is God like?

Thankfully God doesn't leave us in the dark but has revealed a lot about himself in the Bible. Let's jump in and see what the Bible says.

First of all the Bible reveals God as the first cause, completely unique, the one and only number one. No one on earth or in heaven is even in the same category. As King David put it "There is none like you oh Lord", and he went on, "There is no God besides you", 1 Chronicles 17:20. So not only is the God of the Bible unique, He is the only God, there is only one God. But the whole Bible reveals that this one God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a tri-unity of persons but still just one God.

The Father is God, the Son is God, the Holy Spirit is God, but the father is not the son, the father is not the Holy Spirit and the son is not the Holy Spirit. That's what the Bible teaches and it makes sense of the many verses in the Bible that point to a plurality in God and clearly shows both Jesus and the Holy Spirit as divine and the obvious reality that there is only one God.
